When you are in need of emergent transfer to a specialty hospital, the REACH staff assists your physician to locate the specialty hospital and the specialty physician to take care of your specific medical need. In addition, the REACH staff will make most of the numerous arrangements required to coordinate your entire transport to the specialty hospital. This allows your physician and his or her staff to continue to focus on the care you need prior to transfer to the specialty hospital.
If I am out hiking and I need medical transport will REACH be sent to pick me up if I am a REACH For Life Member?
When you are in the outdoor environment and are in need of emergent medical care, you need the closest resources available to care for you. Your local Emergency Medical Services Agency pre-plans a system that ensures you will receive the most rapid response when time matters most. REACH advocates for use of the 9-1-1 system in these cases; use of the system ensures you
receive the most rapid medical care and attention you need. If you find yourself in this situation dial 9-1-1 and advise them you are a member. In most cases the closest appropriate air ambulance will
be sent to your emergency location.
You can request for REACH to be activated when you are in need of emergent transfer from one hospital to another.
